We will discuss a few methods for elliptic interface problems, where there are discontinuous coefficients. We assume the jump in the coefficients occur along a smooth interface. We use methods where the mesh are not aligned with the interface (which we call unfitted method). We discuss issues such as accuracy and stability of the method. In particular, we look stability for when the jump between coefficients are large.
